Scholarly Resource Development includes Acquisitions, Collection Development and Assessment, Interlibrary Loan Borrowing and Scholarly Communications. The department supports academic learning and research by acquiring scholarly resources through sustainable acquisition strategies, conservative budget management, gifts, donations & gifts-in-kind, resource sharing and Open Access models. We collaborate with faculty, subject specialists, publishers and consortia to provide library materials in all formats while also monitoring disciplinary and user needs for resources.

Serials Review 2013

The primary responsibility of Collection Development is to select and assess library materials needed to support the educational and research mission of the University of Colorado Boulder. Collection Development develops the Libraries' collections of electronic resources and print materials, and formulates collection development policies.

The department supports a large number of Subject Specialists, who in addition to providing materials selection, also perform faculty liason and student outreach activities to ensure that collections are responsive to users' needs.
