1. What is the new web address for the University Libraries web site?

3. Why did we redesign the web site?

To take advantage of advances in evolving web technology. To make it more intuitive to use. To make it more user-friendly.

4. Why do some of the pages still have the old look?

We have over 6000 web files. It takes time to apply the new template. We hope to complete the conversion by the end of December 2004.

5. Where do I find quick information about the Libraries?

Home > About the Libraries

You're there already. Use the sidebar to navigate through the A-Z list.

6. How do I find information about individual departments within the library system?

From the header navbar: About the Libraries > D : Libraries & Deaprtments or
From the header navbar: About the Libraries > L : Libraries & Deaprtments

7. Where do I find the hours of the various library departments and collections?

From the header navbar: About the Libraries > H > Hours
Or from any departmental web page, click on hours.

8. How do I contact subject specialists within the Libraries?

From the header navbar: Research Resources > Subject Specialists
That page lists all the subject specialists (bibliographers) and their contact information.


9. What impact has the redesign had on the CHINOOK library catalog?

ALL the features of Chinook have been retained -- and expanded. Many enhancements have been made to extend the search process.

10. What happened to the e-Resource A-Z and Subject lists on CHINOOK's main page?

They have been incorporated into Find Articles and More. This move was made to reflect the fact that in addition periodical indexes and abstracts there are directories, encyclopedias, dictionaries and other reference works.

11. What is MY CHINOOK?

This is your option to view your record, reserve books, set preferred searches, modify your PIN via a secure server.

12. Where do I find new and trial databases?

From the header navbar: Chinook > New & Trial Databases

13. How do I use CHINOOK to locate online resources?

Use the new "Electronic Collections" search feature in Chinook.

14. What is the "Recent Acquisitions" option on CHINOOK's main page?

A listing of new materials cataloged into the Libraries collections. Updated monthly.

15. How do I find course reserves?
