About the Libraries >
Food and Drink Policy
Because the Libraries house valuable and even irreplaceable materials, we discourage the use of food and drink anywhere in the stacks and other public areas (e.g., classrooms, reading rooms, and team technology rooms). Food and drink in collection areas provide sustenance for insects, mold, and rodents.
Patrons may consume beverages while studying in reading rooms if the beverages are in permanent, sealed containers. No paper, styrofoam, or plastic-coated cups are allowed. No food is allowed outside the HOT SPOT cafe, and no drink in an open container or disposable cup is allowed outside the cafe.
Security or library personnel will ask any patron to leave the area if they are eating or drinking in the stacks, reading rooms, or other public areas in violation of this policy.
Help the Libraries protect the collections for use by future generations of students and scholars; abide by our policy restricting food and beverages while studying in the Libraries' stacks and reading areas.
