Permanent directional and identification signs in the Libraries must conform to the Norlin Library Graphics Program developed by Communications Arts Incorporated in 1978. This program is carried out by the Libraries Sign Committee in cooperation with Administrative Services. A copy of the graphics program may be consulted in Administrative Services.
All Libraries departments and non-library tenants of Norlin Library are asked to adhere to the signage program guidelines and to have all signs approved, before fabrication, by the Libraries Sign Committee. This committee will make a recommendation on any exceptions to this policy to the Libraries Cabinet for a final decision.
Temporary signs within a department should be produced on a laser printer. The chair of the Libraries Sign Committee may advise on size, style, and mounting. Norlin Security must approve all bills, posters, and other items for public bulletin boards and other postings in Norlin public areas. Only items pertaining to the University are appropriate. No business advertising is permitted.
The branch libraries shall conform to the Libraries graphics program. Exceptions may be made for colors and in cases where signs conform to the graphics program of the building in which they are housed.
