Grouping and Creating Presentations

Creating a Presentation

Luna Insight allows students and researchers to create a presentation made up of groups of images from collections as well as their associated annotations and links. A built-in presentation controller allows users to show your presentation; alternatively, presentations can be exported either to Microsoft Powerpoint or to a webpage.

Creating New Groups of Images

Step One:

Open Luna Insight 5.5 and select the collection(s) that you wish to search:

Step Two:
Select New Group from the File menu.  This will open a new, empty window in which you will be able to group images.

Step Three: Select the images that you would like to group
Users have three options to create a group from the collection of images:

  • Scroll through the collection of images on the right and ‘drag and drop’ the selected images into the group window
  • Search through the collection of images by highlighting the name of the collection and selecting Search from the left section, thereby creating a smaller subsection of the collection from which to create a group (See below for more information on Option 2)
  • Copy and paste images from the collection into the group by using the Edit, Copy, Paste features from the Edit menu.

Use option two to search for relevant images and limit the amount of displayed images, for example:

  1. Highlight the name of the collection by clicking on it
  2. Select the Search menu on the left, and use the search options to search or browse collections
  3. Drag and drop the desired images into the Group window

Step Four: Save the group

Save the group of images by selecting File, then Save Group

The images will be saved in a user-specified local folder.

Creating Simple Presentations from Existing Image Groups

  1. Open the group that you wish to use for the presentation by using the File menu and then Open Group.  The group will open in a second section and the collection(s) from which the group was created will open in a third section
  2. Activate the group by clicking on its title bar.
  3. Click on Create Presentation in the group menu to open the selected group in a new window that will have four sections.
    1. The Presentation Editor which contains the group of images that you have selected
    2. A full screen image of the first image in your group
    3. The editing toolbar
    4. A remote that will allow you to advance through the images in the group
  1. Rearrange the images by ‘dragging and dropping’ them into the order in which you want to present them.
  2. Save the presentation by clicking Save at the bottom of the Presentation Editor
  3. Close or minimize the Presentation Editor and Editing Toolbar to advance through the presentation.

Luna Insight also allows students and researchers to export groups to Microsoft PowerPoint or a web page.
