Earth Sciences Library

Jerry Crail Johnson
Earth Sciences and Map Library

The Earth Sciences Library collects material in geology, mineralogy, paleontology, oceanography, physical geography, mineral deposits, and environmental aspects of geology and geography.

We are one of five external branches of the University Libraries and are located in the Benson Earth Sciences building on the southwest side of the first floor. Have a look at The Arrow of Time on the southwest building exterior while you're here.

Map Library

The Map Library is located on the lower level of the Jerry Crail Johnson Earth Sciences and Map Library.

The library subscribes to about 350 journals covering earth science related subject areas. In many cases we are subscribing to the journals full-text, online only. Only University of Colorado, Boulder faculty, staff, and students can view these files remotely. Other users must view them in the University Libraries.

For UCB classes requiring bibliographic instruction related to Earth Sciences, please contact Suzanne Larsen (303-492-6133).
A photocopier is available downstairs. It will accept copy cards, bills or coins.

Printing

Printing from Library computers requires a printer card. These are available for purchase at the UMC. Students, Faculty, and Staff may use their Buff Cards.

Instructors may put reading material on reserve in the Earth Sciences Library for their classes. Check-out periods vary from two-hour reserve to three-day reserve. Lists of material on reserve can be accessed on Chinook under instructor's name or class number. To place materials on reserve, print and fill out the Earth Sciences Reserves form here.
