Engineering pertaining to the design and construction of aircraft and
space vehicles and of power units, and to the special problems of flight
in both the earth's atmosphere and space, as in the flight of air vehicles
and in the launching, guidance, and control of missiles, earth satellites,
and space vehicles and probes. (Access Science)
CU Aerospace
& High Technology Database
The Aerospace database provides bibliographic citations and abstracts
for basic and applied research in aeronautics, astronautics, and space
sciences. The database also covers technology development and applications
in complementary and supporting fields such as chemistry, geosciences,
physics, communications, and electronics. In addition to periodic literature,
the database also includes coverage of reports issued by NASA, other
US government agencies, international institutions, universities, and
private firms. Use this database, which links directly to the online
edition, to identify papers included in the AIAA technical papers cited
below. Includes full text links when available. Coverage: 1962 - present.
CU AIAA
Online Technical Meeting Papers
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) publishes
approximately 4000 papers, presented at 20 conferences, each year. The
online version of the meeting papers allows access to full-text scanned
images. Search functions are limited to author, title, conference title,
date of publication, AIAA paper number, and author affiliation. Use
Aerospace
& High Technology Database to identify papers by subject,
author, author affiliation, and other access points. Earlier papers
from 1963 through 1974 are available in microfiche format in the Engineering
Library. Online coverage: 1975 - present.
CU Applied
Science and Technology Index
Indexes trade and industrial publications, journals issued by professional
and technical societies, and specialized subject periodicals, as well
as special issues such as buyers' guides, directories, and conference
proceedings. Coverage: 1983 - present.
DOE Information Bridge
Provides access to full-text and bibliographic citations for research
and development reports from the Department of Energy. Includes physics,
chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies,
engineering, computer and information science, renewable energy, and
other topics. Coverage: Varies.
CU Engineering
Village 2--Compendex and INSPEC
Compendex is a comprehensive bibliographic database of engineering
research literature. Contains references and abstracts to engineering
journals, conferences and technical reports. Subject areas include:
chemical and process engineering, computers and data processing, applied
physics, electronics and communications as well as civil and mechanical
engineering. Includes links to full text when available.Coverage: 1884
- present.
INSPEC is a bibliographic database that indexes physics, astronomy and
astrophysics, electrical engineering and electronics, computers and
control engineering and information technology. The database contains
full-text links when available. Coverage: 1898 - present.

Abstracts popular and scholarly journals in the fields of Astronomy,
Atmospheric Science, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Conservation, Earth
Science, Environment, Food, Genetics, Health, Mathematics, Medicine,
Microbiology, Nutrition, Oceanography, Physics, Physiology, and Zoology.
Coverage: May 1984 - present.
CU IEEE/IEE
Electronic Library
Provides full-text access to IEEE transactions, journals, magazines
and conference proceedings and all current IEEE Standards. The site
uses the IEEE Xplore search and navigation system. Subjects include
electrical engineering and computer science. Coverage: 1988 - present.
NASA Astrophysics
Data System (ADS)
Provides "four bibliographic databases containing more than 2.4 million
records: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Instrumentation, Physics and Geophysics,
and preprints in Astronomy." In addition to bibliographic citations,
the site provides scanned full text access to "much of the astronomical
literature." Abstract and index coverage: 1975 - present.
NASA Technical Standards Program
NASA-Developed Standards Products, Consultative Committee for Space
Data Systems (CCSDS) standards, and Department of Defense (DoD) Standards
Products available online. The site requires free registration.
NTRS: NASA Technical
Reports Server
Provides bibliographic citations and selected full text from: NASA
Technical Reports, NASA Open Literature, and National Advisory Committee
for Aeronautics (NACA) reports. The databases cover technical literature
produced by NASA and its predecessor (NACA), and bibliographic citations
and abstracts to a broader range of published literature in the fields
of aeronautics, space science, chemistry and materials, engineering,
geosciences, life sciences, mathematics and computer sciences, and physics.
Included are periodicals, government-sponsored journals, books, and
conference proceedings issued from professional and academic organizations.
NASA and NACA technical literature are generally available in the CU Government
Publications Library. Coverage: 1915 - present.
Space Life Sciences--PubMed
Space Life Sciences is a subset of the PubMed
database, a service of the National Library of Medicine, that includes
over 15 million citations from MEDLINE and additional life science journals
for biomedical articles back to the 1950's. PubMed includes links to
full text articles and other related resources. To restrict your search choose "Limits". Then choose "Space Life Sciences" from the subsets menu. Coverage: 1950 -
present.
CU SAE
Global Mobility Database
Available on campus. Ask at the Engineering Library Reference Desk
for assistance with the login and password.
A searchable database that covers internationally published technical
literature and standards documents relating to all forms of self-propelled
vehicles - land, sea, air, and space. Database contains over 120,000
summaries in English, including detailed abstracts and bibliographic
information from over 400 publishers, journals, magazines and conferences.
Conference publications are usually available in the SAE Technical Literature
(Microfiche 141) collection in the Engineering Library. Coverage: Varies.
Scitopia
This federated vertical search portal was created through the collaboration of 15 leading science and technology societies. It searches the entire electronic libraries of these societies, including more than three million documents, peer-reviewed journal content and technical conference papers, spanning 150 years of science and technology can be searched through the site. Though the search is freely available, access to many documents requries authentication. SAE records may be available in microfiche in the Library; contact us if you need an SAE paper. Coverage varies.
CU SPIE
Digital Library
Provides full text of articles published in the Proceedings of the SPIE and the society's journals from 1990 to the present.
CU Web
of Science
Available to campus IP addresses. Remote
access information.
Provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information,
author abstracts, and cited references found in 5,700 of the world's
leading scholarly science and technical journals covering more than
164 disciplines. The database allows you to search for specific articles
by subject, author, journal, and/or author address. Because the information stored about each article includes the article's cited reference list (often called its bibliography) the database is often used to search for articlesthat cite a known author or work. Coverage: 1900 - present.
