Guide for Civil Engineering
A branch of engineering that encompasses the conception,
design, construction, and management of residential and commercial water
supply facilities, and transportation systems for goods and people, as
well as control of the environment for the maintenance and improvement
of the quality of life. Civil engineering is a people-serving profession;
it includes planning and design professionals in both the public and private
sectors, contractors, builders, educators, and researchers who strive
to meet the needs and desires of the community. (Access Science)

Abstracts and Indexes
to Academic or Scholarly Articles, Trade Publications, and more.
Although many databases contain links to full-text articles, when
you find article or book citations in the index databases, you need to
search Chinook to see if University
Libraries own that periodical or book title.
CU ASCE
Research Library
The Research Library provides access to more than 33,000 full-text papers from ASCE Journals and Proceedings.
Coverage: varies.
In addition, the ASCE Civil Engineering Database indexes and abstracts all ASCE publications, including journals, conference
proceedings, books, standards, manuals, magazines, and newspapers back to 1970. When available, this Database links to the full-text in the Research Library. The handout below explains how to search and find full-text from the CE Database.

Quakeline
QUAKELINE® is a freely available bibliographic database developed and maintained by the Information Service of the Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (MCEER). It covers earthquakes, earthquake engineering, natural hazard and disaster mitigation, and related topics. Varied publications are featured, including books, journal articles, conference papers, proceedings, technical reports, CDs, slides, and videos. The database is updated on a monthly basis and currently provides content for over 44,900 records. Citations found in Quakeline can be searched for in Chinook.
Scitopia
This federated vertical search portal was created through the collaboration of 15 leading science and technology societies. It searches the entire electronic libraries of these societies, including more than three million documents, peer-reviewed journal content and technical conference papers, spanning 150 years of science and technology can be searched through the site. Though the search is freely available, access to many documents requries authentication. Coverage varies.
