Biography
Rice Majors joined the libraries faculty in 2010 and currently serves as the director for Libraries IT, overseeing a department of one faculty member and eight technical staff. LIT supports the integrated library system, web servers, dedicated application servers, digital library initiatives, and more than 700 computers and associated peripherals in multiple campus locations. Majors holds a BA in Music from Cornell University and an MLS from Emporia State University. Prior to coming to Colorado, Majors held reference, access services, and cataloging positions at Cornell University and Lewis & Clark College; and was a product manager for Innovative Interfaces, a major provider of integrated library systems. He has also been a visiting Lecturer for Cornell University and a Lecturer at Contra Costa College in northern California. Majors's research interests include human computer interaction and usability studies of discovery platforms and next generation catalogs. Majors is currently co-chair of NISO's Content & Collection Management topic committee, overseeing standards in those areas; is a functional expert for the Innovative User Group's enhancement process; and is a former Chair of the FRBR Interest Group (ALCTS).
