Biography
Amanda Brown joined the University Libraries in October 2011, having worked previously in the Library and Archives Department of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. She holds an M.A. from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, an M.Phil in Art History with a concentration in the history of photography from the City University of New York, and an M.L.I.S. with a concentration in archival studies from Pratt Institute. Prior to embarking on a library and archives career, she taught Art History at New York City College of Technology and worked in curatorial departments at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Her research interests include special collections instruction and assessment, visual literacy for science students, vernacular photography, and theoretical and practical considerations of photography archives.
