Colorado State Resources

University of Colorado at Boulder Government Information Library is a depository for Colorado state publications, and Chinook (CU's library catalog) contains call numbers for most of them. The majority of Colorado state publications in paper can be found in Norlin Library's basement (NORBASE).

• CEDIS (Colorado Economic and Demographic Information System)
  Provides state, county, city, and regional data on population, housing, employment, city and county finance, income and earnings, tax base and rate, and school enrollment. Not all data series are available for all levels of government. Additional data is available from the main menu of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, the agency that compiles the CEDIS database.

• Colorado Natural Diversity Information Source.
  Includes a variety of full-text publications on plants, animals, water quality, population growth, and land use. The interactive mapping application "displays state-of-the-art information on wildlife, plants, and natural communities in Colorado." Users can map vegetation patterns, create maps of suitable habitat by species, land use, and more.

• Front Range Infrastructure Resources Project
  Gives information about the location and characteristics of land, natural aggregate, water, and energy resources on the Front Range.
• Heritage West (Formerly Colorado Digitization Project, or CDP)
  Heritage West is a database of thousands of digital objects from museums, libraries, historical societies and archives from the Western United States. The database includes photos, documents, artifacts, costumes, diaries, oral histories, and manuscripts about the West's cultural, scientific, and historic heritage. You can do a "Search by Category" of Colorado.

• Colorado General Assembly
  Provides House and Senate calendars, bills, status dating back to 1997. In addition, the site provides directories of the members of the Colorado House and Senate and information from services of the General Assembly, such as the Legislative Council, Joint Budget Committee, and the Office of the State Auditor.

    Recordings accessible when the committees are in session.

    Archived video recordings of the Colorado General Assembly (2008 - ).
  • Colorado State Archives: Legislative Records
    Information on the availability and processes for using audio recordings of state Legislative Committee Hearings and Floor Sessions, from 1973. Availability of other archived documents from the Legislature is noted.
  • Colorado Ballot Proposals Information
    Provides information about the process and an analysis of the state ballot issues by the Legislative Counsel Staff. Known as the "Blue Book", the guide is available in Spanish and English language editions.

Similiar to CRS Reports at the Federal level, Legislative Council Research Publications provide non-partisan research on specific issues that come before the Colorado State Legislature. These materials inform representatives on the local and legislative history for their topics.

  Provides access to bills, statutes, constitutions, digests of state law, proposed and final regulations, legislative directories, and news. Although the service covers all fifty states, some types of information are not available for all states. For example, proposed regulations for the State of Colorado are available online, but the final regulations are not available because of copyright restrictions.

  Provides access to state statutes and state case law from appellate and high courts.

• Colorado Courts
  Provides information about the Colorado Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Trial Courts by County or District, Water Courts, Denver Probate Court. The site also includes Colorado-approved forms, court rules, statistical data on the operation of the courts, and other information. Provides selected opinions online.
