Worldwide Information (Reports)

  • AidData--Created by Development Gateway, The College of William & Mary, and Brigham Young University, AidData is "an easy-to-use, comprehensive, and timely resource describing the universe of development finance project-by-project, including all grants and loans committed by all major bilateral and multilateral aid donors." Data encompasses multilateral and bilateral donor foreign aid projects spanning the years 1945-2009.
  • Collection on Critical Global Issues
    A full text library of material from the United Nations University Press and other publishers that "contains 210 publications (32,000 pages) in the fields of Agriculture and Land Management, Development, Environment and Sustainability, Food and Nutrition, Natural Resource Development, Science and Technology". From the New Zealand Digital Library, a site with several important collections of digital materials from intergovernmental and international organizations.
  • Development Experience (USAID)
    The U.S. Agency for International Development’s Development Experience Clearinghouse, also known as the DEC, is the largest online resource for technical and program documentation funded by USAID, with thousands of documents available for electronic download.
  • ELDIS
    Eldis is a gateway to online information on development. Coverage includes social, economic, political and environmental issues. The Country Profiles include reports by sector, links to maps, statistics, and reports from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, United Nations Industrial Development Fund, World Trade Organization, and Amnesty International.
  • Humanity Development Library 2.0
    "Is a large collection of practical information aimed at helping reduce poverty, increasing human potential, and providing a practical and useful education for all. This version, 2.0, contains 1,230 publications--books, reports, and magazines--in various areas of human development, from agricultural practice to economic policies, from water and sanitation to society and culture, from education to manufacturing, from disaster mitigation to micro-enterprises."   • International Development Research Center
    Provides reports, links, access to databases on IDRC funded projects and more.
  • International Monetary Fund (IMF) This fund provides money and support to developing countries.
    • Country Information
      IMF reports and publications listed by country.
    • World Economic Outlook Reports
      A Survey by the IMF staff usually published twice a year. It presents IMF staff economists' analyses of global economic developments during the near and medium term. Chapters give an overview as well as more detailed analysis of the world economy; consider issues affecting industrial countries, developing countries, and economies in transition to market; and address topics of pressing current interest. Annexes, boxes, charts, and an extensive statistical appendix augment the text.

      A service of the World Bank with full text economic reports, staff appraisal reports, and other publications. Access by country, sector, or report type. Includes publications 1988-present.
    • Joint Bank-Fund Library Network
      The catalog of the joint International Monetary Fund-World Bank Library. The library catalog includes the holdings of the library and indexing to about 800 periodicals on economics and finance. The catalog includes links to periodical articles when an online edition exists. An excellent source of information on international economics, finance, and the activities of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

    Extensive statistical marketing, business and economic information for over 200 countries.
  • Foreign Assistance.gov provides a view of U.S. Government foreign assistance funds and enables users to examine, research, and track aid investments in a standard and easy-to-understand format.
  • IMF International Financial Statistics CU
    This database contains financial data collected by the IMF.
  • IMF World Economic Outlook Databases
    This database contains time series data for GDP growth, inflation, unemployment, payments balances, exports, imports, external debt, capital flows, commodity prices, more.
  • Millennium Development Goals Statistics
    • DevInfo
      DevInfo monitors progress towards the Millennium Development Goals. It generates tables, graphs and maps for reports and presentations. DevInfo has been developed in cooperation with the UN system and has been adapted from UNICEF ChildInfo technology. The database maintains indicators by time periods and geographic areas to monitor commitments to sustained human development.

      The MDG Indicators web site presents the official data, definitions, methodologies and sources for more than 60 indicators to measure progress towards the Millennium Development Goals.
  • Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development collects information from its members on international development.
  • UNData
    This database provides selected series from 30 specialized international data sources for all available countries and areas.
  • U.S. Overseas Loans and Grants (USAID) (Greenbook)
    The Greenbook shows a complete historical record of United States' (U.S.) foreign aid to the rest of the world by reporting all loans and grants authorized by the U.S. Government for each fiscal year (back to 1946).
  • World Bank includes a wide variety of information. Includes access to:

    • International Debt Statistics (Formerly Global Development Finance)
      This database contains statistical data for the 147 countries and country groups. The database covers external debt stocks and flows, major economic aggregates, and key debt ratios as well as average terms of new commitments, currency composition of long-term debt, debt restructuring, and scheduled debt service projections. The focus here is on country investment data as well as the credit valuation of a country, necessary to assess investment prospects.
    • World Development Indicators
      This database contains data on the global economy from the World Bank. This database contains statistical data for over 600 development indicators and time series data from 1960-present for over 200 countries and 18 country groups. Data are available in five categories: people, environment, economy, states and markets, and global links.
