  • Atlas of the World Languages in Danger of Disappearing This is a list of the languages in danger of disappearing along with a summary of the worldwide situation.
  • Index Translation lists all the available translations of authors.
  • Languages of the World "The UNESCO Education Sector has prepared a World Languages Map, as an illustration of the linguistic diversity of our planet, as well as a tool that contains practical information on the languages spoken throughout the countries of the world."

  • AltaVista Translations Type in text or a URL. AltaVista returns a translation of the page or the text. Includes choices for English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.
  • Ethnologue Languages of the World Database "The Ethnologue is a catalogue of more than 6,700 languages spoken in 228 countries. The Ethnologue Name Index lists over 39,000 language names, dialect names, and alternate names. The Ethnologue Language Family Index organizes languages according to language families."
  • Foreign Languages for Travelers Small phrase books with expressions and words needed when travelling. Select language spoken and language needed.
  • Google Translation Tools
  • iLoveLanguages (formaly Human-Languages Page) Resources to learn an individual language, links to literature and poetry archives, multilingual resources, language schools and other information.
  • Living Languages of the Americas Tabular data by country which includes Language Name, Language Family , Population (number of speakers), and place in which the language is spoken. Includes bibliographic references for vernacular and technical publications by language.
  • Oxford English Dictionary CU
  • travlang's Translating Dictionaries: Provides on-line multilingual translating dictionaries free of charge. Languages currently include French, German, English, Spanish, Dutch, Danish, Afrikaans and Esperanto. The site also hosts a freeware Windows multilingual translating dictionary for downloading.
