    • Treesearch allows users to search for publications by the Forest Service's research & development scientists. The database includes all Forest Service books, chapters, and articles published as early as January 2004, and older publications are being added. Research results behind these publications have been peer reviewed. Do a basic search from the Treesearch home page or conduct an Advanced Search.
  • Healthy Forests Initiative (HFI)
    HFI was launched with the intent to reduce the risks severe wildfires pose to people, communities, and the environment.
  • National Archaeological Database
    An "expanded bibliographic inventory of approximately 240,000 reports on archeological investigation and planning, mostly of limited circulation. This 'gray literature' represents a large portion of the primary information available on archeological sites in the U.S. NADB-Reports can be searched by state, county, worktype, cultural affiliation, keyword, material, year of publication, title, and author."

    This site provides a searchable database of recreational opportunities on federal lands. Choose a state and recreation activity. The database will generate a list of relevant parks, forests, and other facilities. The individual entries include a description of the site, link to the agency which manages it, links to interactive mapping from the National Atlas and a current weather report.

  • EarthTrends: The Environmental Information Portal
    This is a cooperative project of the World Resources Institute, the World Bank, the UN Environment Programme, the UN Development Programme and others that provides a wide array of environmental data and information. The material is grouped into broad topics: coastal and marine ecosystems; water resources and freshwater ecosystems; climate and atmosphere; population, health and human well-being; economics, business and the environment; energy and resources; biodiversity and protected areas; agriculture and food; forests and grasslands; and environmental institutions and governance. After selecting a broad topic, the user has access to databases, datatables, country profiles, maps, and feature articles. The databases provide extensive data for onscreen viewing or download. Years of coverage vary. The data tables provide comparative data for countries of the world. The country profiles provide data, tables, and a brief narrative for individual countries.
