- Air Traffic Control System Command Center provides access to real-time airport status data from the FAA.
- Bureau of Transportation Statistics includes:
- Career Voyages - Transportation provides information on high growth, in-demand occupations along with the skills and education needed to attain those job. This website is a collaboration between the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Education.
- Census Bureau Statistical Abstract - Transportation
- Census
of Transportation includes Vehicle Inventory and Use, Annual
Transportation Survey, Commodity Flow surveys, and other
publications and data.
- Department of Transportation
(DOT) includes links to all DOT agencies. With a nice array of
searchable statistical
databases and online reports.
- Online Digital Special Collections provides a digital repository
of Turner and Fairbank Papers, Civil Aeronautic Manuals, Civil Aeronautics Manuals, Civil Air Regulations,
Superseded Advisory Circulars, I.C.C. Historical Railroad Investigation Reports (1911-1966), National Conferences on
Street and Highway Safety, Historical Aircraft Accident Reports (1934-1965), FAA and CAA Research Reports, Historic CAB/DOT Orders, and Historic FARS.
- Online Publications from
the Digital Documents Center provides electronic copies of
publications from DOT agencies, including the Bureau of
Transportation Statistics, the Department of Transportation,
the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Railroad
Administration, the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal
Transit Administration, the Maritime Administration, the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Coast
Guard, the St. Lawrence Seaway, and Research and Special
Programs Administration. Includes circulars, advisories,
educational materials, statistical compilations, and other
materials. Available in .tif or .pdf formats.
- Environmental Protection Agency provides information on the environmental impacts of transportation

Administration provides regulations, information about its
programs, an electronic reading room, press releases, and other
information.
- Federal Railway Administration provides regulations, reports, and
other information, including an extensive array of information on safety, such as:
- GPO Access Resources by Topic: Transportation includes publications, regulations, legislation, and other federal transportation resources.
- House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee
- Intelligent Transportation Systems promotes "intelligent vehicles, intelligent infrastructure and the creation of an intelligent transportation system through integration with and between these two components."
- National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration "NHTSA is responsible for reducing
deaths, injuries and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle
crashes. This is accomplished by setting and enforcing safety
performance standards for motor vehicles and motor vehicle
equipment, and through grants to state and local governments to
enable them to conduct effective local highway safety programs."
The agency provides a crash test database, information on highway
safety-related issues such as airbags, car seats, vehicle recalls,
and other information, including:
- Fatality
Analysis Reporting System (FARS) provides online access to
data on Fatal Crashes by Roadway Function Class and Atmospheric
Condition; Vehicles Involved by Rollover Occurrence; Driver
Reports, and Fatality Reports. The Driver and Fatality Reports
include a wide variety of data on blood alcohol content (BAC),
motor vehicle violations, use of restraints (seat belt),
vehicle type (such as large truck, emergency vehicles, etc.),
time of day, pedestrian fatalities, fatalities in the beds of
pickups, train collisions, urban and rural roads, and other
factors.
- National
Transportation Safety Board "The National Transportation
Safety Board is an independent Federal agency charged by Congress
with investigating every civil aviation accident in the United
States and significant accidents in the other modes of
transportation -- railroad, highway, marine and pipeline -- and
issuing safety recommendations aimed at preventing future
accidents."
- Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation
- Transportation Security Administration (TSA) formed after Sept. 11, the TSA is a component of the Department of Homeland Security and is responsible for security of the nation's transportation systems (highways, railroads, buses, mass transit systems, ports, and U.S. airports).
