Grants.gov was established in 1999 and is a comprehensive source of government grant opportunities. The site provides: a database of over 1,000 grants, resources for applying, resources for tracking grant applications, and more.


Online Colorado Grants Guide
Search tool for finding grants in Colorado. The Community Resource Center (CRC) provides training, technical assistance and consultation to community-based organizations in Colorado and across the country. CRC serves as a convener of communities to expand resources and stimulate change. Search by proposal deadline, funders, location, grant size, area of interest, and type of grant or foundation. This is only available on library computers. CU

The Foundation Center is the leading source on foundations and non-profits. Their website provides extensive information on fundraising and grant seeking (see the Getting Started pages for an excellent introduction to grant seeking and additional learning opportunities). The Denver Public Library is a cooperating collection of the Foundation Center. The Non-profit Resource Center located at the central library, provides the core foundation center publications and tools.   

Access to the Foundation Center database is only available in the library.


Foundation Finder: The Foundation Center's free database enables you to locate foundations and potential funding sources by name, location, or EIN number. The database provides basic information and access to IRS 990 filings.


Foundation Center's 990 Finder: The Foundation Center's 990 Finder provides access to organizations' 990 IRS filings, which detail fiscal data.


Council on Foundations: A nonprofit member organization whose mission "is to provide the opportunity, leadership and tools needed by philanthropic organizations to expand, enhance and sustain their ability to advance the common good." The site provides ample resources on national foundations and grant opportunities: including a Community Foundation Locator.


Guidestar: A non-profit organization aiming to provide information and clarity to the nonprofit community. The site provides data on 1.5 million nonprofit organizations.


Idealist.org: Idealist is partnered with Action without Borders; the site provides details about over 61,000 nonprofit and community organizations in 165 countries.


Grants.gov: Grants.gov was established in 1999 and is a comprehensive source of government grant opportunities. The site provides: a database of over 1,000 grants, resources for applying, resources for tracking grant applications, and more.


Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance: This government gateway supplies a database of various government grant sources, as well as help sources for applying and attaining grants.
