    • The CIA's World Factbook
      An atlas of the world "prepared by the Central Intelligence Agency for the use of US Government officials", but readable and general enough for the public user. Contains base maps of countries and regions; histories, profiles, and statistics about individual countries.
    • Geocommunicator
      "Sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management and the US Forest Service... GeoCommunicator is designed to provide geospatial data and products from NILS (National Integrated Land System) to the public... GeoCommunicator provides a central site for the distribution of geospatial data in three separate applications: Land and Mineral Use Records, Federal Land Stewardship and Land Survey Information System." Includes a "township geocoder" which converts township/range/section into latitude/longitude.
    • GeoMAC
      "The Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination Group or GeoMAC, is an internet-based mapping application originally designed for fire managers to access online maps of current fire locations and perimeters in the conterminous 48 States and Alaska. Using a standard web browser, fire personnel can view this information to pinpoint the affected areas."
    • PARKNET, National Park Service
      Maps of National Park locations; descriptions and photos of individual parks. Maps of many parks and monuments are available for viewing, some in 3-D.Go directly to NPS Digital Maps Data Directory to download a digital map file.
    • International Boundaries Research Unit
      A source of information and expertise on boundary and territorial issues around the world.
    • Sun or Moon Altitude/Azimuth Table
      A U.S. Naval observatory site that calculates the altitude and azimuth of the Sun or Moon during a specific day, at a specific time interval.
