Outside Borrowers
- All outside borrowers must register at the Norlin Library Circulation desk
before checking out Music Library materials.
- For general borrowing privileges, see “Borrowing
Privileges” on the Circulation
Services page.
Items from PASCAL or Other Libraries
- Items stored offsite (PASCAL)
may be requested at any circulation desk or online through Chinook using
the recall/hold function. Material will be picked up and returned to
Norlin Circulation. The turnaround time is generally three business days. Patrons
will be notified when their material is ready to be picked up and is held
for 10 days.
- Items requested through Prospector or Interlibrary
Loan are picked up and returned to the Norlin Library. Prospector items
check out for 21 days with 1 renewal. Interlibrary Loan items will vary
in checkout period and renewal depending on the lending institution.
Renewing
- You can renew your borrowed items by using My
Chinook.
- By phone, call 303-492-7477, press 2 on your touch-tone phone during Circulation
Desk hours.
- By email by receiving library notices and renew your books by e-mail. Please
send your name, e-mail address, and ID number to norcirc@colorado.edu.
- Or just come to any library circulation desk.
Fines
- Most books checked out from the University Libraries are not subject to
overdue fines. In addition, most materials will not be considered “lost” until
overdue for a significantly longer period of time (90 days).
- Fines will only be assessed on “recalled” items (those requested
by another borrower), course reserve material, and some special collections
which check out only for very short periods of time (sound recordings, videos,
etc.).
- If items should be declared lost our charges are $50.00, $200.00, or $400.00,
depending upon the type of material. Patrons also have the option of
replacing lost items by purchasing a copy of the same edition, either new
or used (used must be in good condition) and paying a processing fee of $50.00.
- Please note that any item which has been declared lost and is later returned
will generate a non-negotiable service charge of $10.00 to cover our billing
costs. This service charge applies to ALL LIBRARY USERS.
- If you have lost items on your record, unpaid fines for the replacement
of an item, or you have passed the 10 day limit on your recalled item; your
account will be blocked from further activity. If your account is blocked
for any reason, contact the music library circulation staff at 303-492-8093.
Recalls
- All users -- except Institute Workshop participants -- are guaranteed a
14 day checkout. After that, any book may be recalled for another University
patron, or for Course Reserve. Typically, you are given 10 days to return
an item -- unless it was already due in less than 10 days -- but those 10
days start from the moment the item is recalled. If your mail delivery is
slow, this may leave you with only a few days in which to return the item.
To receive your notices in a more timely fashion, please consider signing
up to receive e-mail notices.
