Ingram Collection
The Ingram Collection contains music published by the Tolbert R. Ingram Music Publishing Company of Denver, Colorado, during the years 1900-1912. Located far from the major music publishers of New York and Boston, Ingram was perhaps the most successful of several Colorado music firms active during the Tin Pan Alley era. Ingram's output totals about 150 compositions of popular music, including both vocal and instrumental pieces. Many of the songs are about Denver, Colorado, or the region. The collection was donated to the University of Colorado Music Library in the mid 1980s by Tolbert Ingram's son and daughter, Rev. T. Robert Ingram and Mrs. Fred Lockwood.
The following article by Nancy R. Carter, "Early Music Publishing in Denver: The Tolbert R. Ingram Company," (pdf, 5 MB) provides a biography of Ingram and a bibliography of his publications. Please note the following additions and corrections to Carter's 1992 bibliography.
