Public Services
The Public Services Division of the University Libraries -- at the University of Colorado at Boulder -- is committed to research, planning, and development, to continuous evaluation of its operations, to the effective utilization of sound principles of administration and management, and to staff participation in decision-making in order that the highest standard of information service is offered to the Libraries' clientele.
Public Services Goals
Offer effective response to user needs by:
Providing current, reliable reference sources.
Providing access to current electronic information technology, and state-of-the-art, functional equipment to support it.
Providing effective access to material not available locally.
Providing efficient circulation and shelving of library materials.
Providing a supportive, productive environment for increasingly diverse user groups, conducive to study and research.
Serving as a local, state, regional, national and international resource for research material.
Providing an atmosphere of civility and courtesy where both internal and external users are valued.
Providing as part of the University curriculum, effective teaching programs which highlight critical thinking skills and articulate the research process.
Developing and preserving the collection in accordance with the expectations of a research university.
Encouraging development and continuing education opportunities for faculty and staff.
