Why Documentation Matters:

CU Honor Code

“On my honor, as a University of Colorado at Boulder student, I have neither given nor received unauthorized assistance on this work”

Every student is responsible to the honor code by promising not to:

  • Plagiarize (copying and pasting, submitting someone else’s work as yours, failing to cite sources etc.)
  • Cheat (using unauthorized study aids, getting someone else to take your test, collaboration etc)
  • Fabricate (inventing research or sources)
  • Aid (helping someone else do any of these things)
  • Lie (about your academic submissions)
  • Bribe (either offering or taking)
  • Threaten

The Honor Code, Honor Council, and violation investigations are all run completely by other students.

Plagiarism is not always on purpose.
