Your instructors, and the students on the Honor Council, can identify plagiarism without too much trouble. They can search the web as well as you. It’s obvious when your words or ideas aren’t yours. They have many resources available to identify plagiarized work:

        • Searching the web
        • Searching library databases
        • Turnitin.com, a term paper plagiarism identifier
        • Paper mills
        • Honor Council- made up of other students
        • Other instructors

Here are the things that could happen to students who plagiarize, whether they meant to or not:

Academic sanctions from the faculty
  • F on the project
  • F in the course
  • Giving additional assignments

Non-academic sanctions from the Honor Council

  • Warning letter
  • Probation
  • Community service
  • Ethics seminar
  • Suspension
  • Expulsion
  • Transcript notation
  • Ineligibility for course
    forgiveness
  • Loss of some scholarships
