A collection of data from developing countries. Maintained by Center for Health and Development at UCLA.

 

Bureau of Economic Analysis

An agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, BEA produces economic accounts statistics that enable government and business decision-makers, researchers, and the American public to follow and understand the performance of the Nation's economy. BEA collects source data, conducts research and analysis, develops and implements estimation methodologies, and disseminates statistics to the public.

 

Bureau of Labor Statistics

The U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics is the principal fact-finding agency for the Federal Government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. The BLS is an independent national statistical agency that collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates essential statistical data to the American public, the U.S. Congress, other Federal agencies, State and local governments, business, and labor. The BLS also serves as a statistical resource to the Department of Labor.

 

Census Bureau

An agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Census Bureau serves as the leading source of quality data about the nation's people and economy.

 

China Data Online

Provides data and information on China, including yearly and monthly macro-economic statistics, monthly economic reports, city statistics (1996-), county statistics (1997- ), Provincial statistics, monthly and yearly industrial statistics, some maps and charts and, various yearbooks. Note: Census data is not part of CU Boulder's subscription. CU

 

2002 Economic Census

The 2002 Economic Census measures business activity during calendar year 2002. The Economic Census provides a detailed portrait of the Nation's economy once every five years, from the national to the local level. The Economic Census is conducted every five years, in years ending in '2' and '7.' Data from the 1997 Economic Census have been released. Data from the 2002 Economic Census are currently being released on a flow basis through the 2nd quarter of 2006.

 

Davidson Data Center & Network (DDCN)
DDCN archives and provides free access to socio-economic micro and macro data on transition economies.

Economic Indicator.gov

From the Economics and Statistics Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce, this site brings together the various commonly used economic indicators. It provides timely access to the daily releases of key economic indicators from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau.

Includes data and publications from the European Commission.

An Economic Time-Series Database produced by the Federal Reserve Bank
of St. Louis.

 

Global Development Finance (GDF) Online
219 indicators that cover external debt stocks and flows, major economic aggregates, and key debt ratios as well as average terms of new commitments, currency composition of long-term debt, debt restructuring, and scheduled debt service projections for 138 countries. Results can be scaled, indexed against a particular year, viewed by percentage change, and charted. Data can be exported in Excel or ASCII format. CU

 

Global Market Information Database
Panel and time-series data at country level on trade, labor, government finance, economy, demography, environment, consumption, and other topics. CU

 

Historical Statistics of The United States

This thoroughly revised five-volume reference work, available both in print and electronic editions, reflects thirty years of new data and scholarship. Topics ranging from migration and health to crime and the Confederate States of America are each placed in historical context by a recognized expert in the field. The fully searchable and downloadable electronic edition will permit users to graph individual tables and create customized tables and spreadsheets reflecting their own particular areas of interest. ICPSR Direct
The Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data files for research and instructional use with statistical software, many in SAS or SPSS format. CU

 

International Economic Statistics (IES) Database
The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Research Library's IES Database simplifies the search for world-wide economic indicators. Individual indicators (such as GDP and CPI) are linked, and each link has a description of the data. Included in each record is the title, corporate author, publisher, years covered in the data series, type of publication (text, table, chart), frequency with which the data is published, country of origin, a URL, available languages, subject headings, format (.pdf, .xls, etc.), a summary (where available), and any notes needed to clarify the data. The database is title, country, subject and keyword searchable. The links will be checked regularly to maintain accuracy. Indicators are continually being added.

 

International Financial Statistics
Access to International Monetary Fund publications includes IMF Country Staff Reports, beginning with 97/101, IMF Papers on Policy Analysis and Assessment, beginning with PPAA/97/01-, and IMF Working Papers, 1997- CU

 

International Statistical Yearbook
National and international economic databases from official institutions: Eurostat, OECD, IMF, UNIDO, Citicorp, Deutsche Bundesbank, Statistisches Bundesamt, and the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW). CU

 

LABORSTA Internet (International Labour Organization)

This interactive database offers time-series and panel data on labor such as employment, wage, labor cost, works days/time, etc. Data may also be break down by sector or occupations. You can also browse available data by topic.

 

National Statistical Offices

Go to the country of your choice and search within that site for available data. Keep in mind that you should look under all relevant subject categories in which your variable may fall under.

 

Regional Economic Accounts
Produced by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Provides local area
economic data for states, counties, and metropolitan areas for 1969 to
the present. Statistics include: personal income and earnings, full
and part employment, transfer payments, and farm income and expenses.

UN Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN Comtrade)
Provides data for over 140 reporting countries, in some cases, spanning the last 40 years. The database is the UN official source for imports, exports and re-exports, for 90% of world trade.

 

UN Common Database
Access to hundreds of statistical series for all countries and areas of the world, with descriptions of the international sources and methods used in compiling the data.CU

 

World Bank e-Library
Allows users to access The World Bank Publication's entire output since the beginning of April 2000 plus all new documents.  While there isn't an exact date range for the content, the oldest documents are circa the late 1980s.  As of January 2004, over 1200 titles of reports, books and documents are included in the E-Library.  Statistical documents like the World Development Indicators and Global Development finance are available as PDF files as well. World Development Indicators (WDI) Online
Contains statistical data for 550 development indicators and time series data from 1960-2000 for over 200 countries and 18 country groups. Data includes social, economic, financial, natural resources, and environmental indicators. Results can be scaled, indexed against a particular year, viewed by percentage change, and charted.
