Gifts, Donations and Gifts-in-kind

Thank you for your interest in making a donation to the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries. Donors are integral to our mission of providing a learning environment that stimulates and nourishes discourse, discovery, the growth of ideas, and the creation of new knowledge. Below you can find more information about how to make a contribution to our mission.

Read a word from James F. Williams, Dean of Libraries and learn about opportunities for giving, including the Friends of the Libraries, facilities naming opportunities, and membership in the Top Drawer Society.

If you would like to make a monetary donation to the libraries, please use our online pledge form.

Are you considering donating books or other materials to the library? Thank you for your consideration! The Libraries accepts materials that support the teaching and research mission of the university. Gift-in-Kind donations (including books and other materials) should meet the same selection criteria as our regular purchases, and must be approved by the appropriate subject specialist or library official. While the purchase price of gifts are free, the process of cataloging and adding materials is costly and storage space is limited.

For these reasons, the library does not accept the following types of items:

  • Duplicates of titles already available in our collection
  • Commonly held titles, i.e. best sellers
  • Textbooks
  • Back issues of serials
  • Serials subscriptions
  • Books that do not fit our teaching or research foci
Please review our Gifts-in-Kind Policy, for more information. When you are ready to make a donation of books and other materials, please contact a subject specialist or our Acquisitions unit to discuss your donation.
