Provenance

Approximately 1,650 items were purchased from Marie Bloch, 26 May 1988, according to an invoice and list in the Bloch Collection File. Other items were individual gifts by various donors.

 

(Bowen) Michael John Bowen Collection

 

Description

Books by William Faulkner, Hemingway and others published in a variety of languages.

Uncataloged. It has been accessioned.

(Creamer) George L. Creamer Library

 

Description

Seventeenth through twentieth century books on various topics.

Status

Partially cataloged.

Arrangement

Cataloged items are arranged by LC call number, grouped according to size, by subject, or form, such as Prayer Books, Baskerville Imprints, Oversize, Children's Illustrated Books (mostly twentieth century), and Pamphlets. These subcollections are arranged by main entry.

Creighton Collection

 

Description

Books and pamphlets on religion and history, mostly nineteenth century English publications, with a few French and German imprints. The subject matter is primarily papal history. These books belonged to Mandell Creighton (1843-1901), Bishop of London (1897-1901).

Provenance

According to Prof. Boyd Hill of the History Department on 16 February 1994, the collection was probably purchased by the Libraries circa 1937. It was transferred into Special Collections in February 1965 according to the Department's Annual Report.

Description

English and American twentieth century books and serials about literature and travel, including works by and relating to Cummings and her husband, Elliot Paul.

Nineteenth-and twentieth-century books on poetry, the Moravian Church, Brook Farm (a literary and philosophical commune), author George William Curtis, and various other topics. The collection also includes realia, reel-to-reel audiotapes, and small press imprints, as well as various poetry periodicals.
