Spanish comedies published by Garcia Rico between 1833 and 1925.

The collection has a collection-level record and anlytic records in the online catalog, and there is a separate file of analytic cards in the Special Collections Reading Room, analyzed to box, not title level, arranged by box number. There is also a catalog of the collection, compiled by Lauretta M. Bellamy and Carol Klemme in 1956. There are several copies, one of which is kept with the collection

Late nineteenth and early twentieth century first and other rare Spanish and Spanish-American literary editions. Most of the collection is in Spanish.

Provenance

 

Amassed by Dr. Gonzalo Huertas Garcia. Purchase of the collection was proposed to the Humanities Special Purchase Fund by Professor Luis T. Gonzalez de Valle in 1994. The collection was purchased in fiscal 1994/95, and the books arrived at CU Libraries in June and July 1995. Items valued at over $100 came to Special Collections. All others went to Norlin Stacks

Several separate purchases and gifts of Spanish language materials dating from the sixteenth through the twentieth century, including books, newspapers, and archival collections.

Status

Uncataloged.

Arrangement

A group of items with the general designation Spanish Collections, plus smaller collections identified as Alperi, Gullon, Hoffman, LTC, Talamo, Wilson Martins, and others. These designations indicate provenance. Items are grouped by provenance, but are otherwise in no discernable order.

Alperi: 29 volumes, 9 titles

Gullon: 93 volumes, 77 titles

LTC: 16 volumes, 7 titles

Talamo: 331 volumes, 177 titles

Vargas: 2 volumes, 2 titles

Wilson Martins: 73 volumes, 63 titles

 

TOTAL: 735 volumes, 480 titles

Access

Separate file of temporary slips, which is extremely incomplete. The file is divided by provenance and subarranged by main entry. This file represents a quarter of the collection, or less. Items which have temporary slips in the Spanish Collections File also have temp slips in the Special Collections Main Entry File. Items which are not in the separate file are not in the Special Collections Main Entry File either. There is also a separate file of typed cards for the Gullon subcollection, which has not yet been integrated with the Spanish Collections File.
