Gift of Henry Pettit.
Mrs. Anna Laetitia Barbauld was born at Kibworth, Leicestershire.
Her father, John Aikin, was a tutor in the dissenting academy at Warrington.
In 1774 she married the Rev. Rochemont Barbauld and together they successfully
ran a boys' school in Palgrave, Suffolk. She had a wide literary acquaintance,
particularly in dissenting circles. |
